Bitcoin today, November 4, 2026: daily brief and outlook

Morning brief · before the US open · Nov 4, 8:45 AM ET · price at release $78,447Two briefs a day: overnight at 12:30 AM ET and in the morning at 9:00 AM ET, half an hour before the US stock market opens

As of 8:45 AM ET, 45 minutes ahead of the opening bell, Bitcoin traded at around $78,450: +1.0% over 24 hours within a $75,736–78,718 range — the overnight seven-week low on the US midterm results was bought back, and the European session this morning held a narrow $78,100–78,700 corridor.

  • The 8:15–8:30 AM ET data came in better than expected (ADP +86K vs. +69K, trade deficit $105.1 billion vs.
  • $108 billion) and did not move the price: in the first 15 minutes after the release Bitcoin stayed at $78,300–78,500.
  • The base case for the next 24 hours is sideways at $76,500–79,500 (47%): S&P 500 futures swung from −1.4% to +0.8% after Trump pledged to accept the results, the dollar sat at a five-week low and there is no leverage in the market, but spot ETFs have been selling for a fifth day and Friday's expiry max pain at $79,000 holds the price near current levels.

The seven-week low of $75,736 was bought back within two hours, the European session held a $78,100–78,720 corridor, and the 8:15–8:30 AM ET data (ADP +86K, trade deficit $105.1 billion) did not move the price. There is no leverage: funding is at the baseline 0.01% on four exchanges, open interest −0.3% over 24 hours, the squeeze index −1, the basis in slight backwardation. Polymarket's median for Thursday at $78,416 matches the report price, its interquartile range of $76,969–79,640 almost mirrors the corridor, DVOL at 38.5 implies a ±$1,590 move, and the max pain of tomorrow's expiry at $77,500 and Friday's at $79,000 hold the price between them. S&P 500 futures at +0.8% give the open a calm backdrop, but ETFs are selling for a fifth day and stand in the way of a move above $79,000.

Pullback · 27%
$73,500–$76,500

The sellers have not gone away: spot ETFs pulled $1.16 billion over three sessions, stablecoins shrank by $12.1 billion in a month, 7,499 BTC arrived on Binance for a possible sale, and long-term holders are underwater on 4 million BTC. Strong ADP and JOLTS lifted the odds of a December Fed hike to 79–82%, and ISM services at 10:00 AM ET with prices paid above 74 could add to that. A Democratic Congress buries CLARITY, and it was on that news that Bitcoin set its overnight low. If the 9:30 AM ET open fails to hold the futures reversal, or Wednesday's ETF data again show outflows above $300 million, a repeat of the overnight move with a break of $75,740 would open the $74,000 zone, where the heaviest puts for Nov 6 and Nov 13 sit, and the 200-day simple moving average at $73,207. Two-week fractals give a median of −8.2%.

Breakout · 26%
$79,500–$81,500

The bottom was set on political news, not on fresh selling: Binance volume rose only 7%, OI is unchanged, the Coinbase premium moved from negative to zero, the last hour is burning shorts rather than longs, and the Nov 27 skew compressed from −5.5 to −3.4 points. The dollar is at a five-week low, gold +2.8%, VIX below 20, S&P 500 futures swung from −1.4% to +0.8% — risk appetite is returning ahead of the open. Options turnover has shifted to calls ($88,000 and $80,000 for December, $78,000 for Friday), and options open interest rose 6.8% on the day. If Wednesday's ETF flows show the first inflow in six sessions, a return to max pain at $79,000 and the EMA20 at $79,750 is possible as early as this evening; above that are the EMA50 at $80,070, $80,500 and the $82,000 calls at the 50-day average of $81,911.

What to watch today
  • US open at 9:30 AM ET: S&P 500 futures around +0.8% after reversing from −1.4%, Nasdaq-100 +0.9%
  • October ISM services at 10:00 AM ET (forecast 54.8, prices paid 74.0 a month earlier): after strong ADP and JOLTS, another strong print would lift the odds of a Fed hike
  • Wednesday's spot BTC ETF flows, due this afternoon, after five days of outflows ($1.16 billion over three sessions)
  • Election results: the count of 5 Senate and 95 House seats, and the first Democratic statements on crypto regulation and investigations
  • Daily candle close at 7:00 PM ET (00:00 UTC): above or below the 200-day EMA at $76,750
  • Deribit expiry of 4,016 BTC (max pain $77,500) at 3:00 AM ET Thursday; Friday's 31,933 BTC with max pain at $79,000
  • Thursday: jobless claims at 8:30 AM ET, Hammack (8:50 AM ET), Musalem (9:10 AM ET), Bowman (12:15 PM ET); Friday: the jobs report at 8:30 AM ET
  • Oil and Iran: Qatar's mediation; MSCI on Strategy around Nov 11; Uber, Qualcomm and Arm earnings after the close

2Technical analysis

  • The Nov 3 daily candle closed at 7:00 PM ET at $77,454 — above the 200-day EMA at $76,749 for a third straight day; after the overnight wick to $75,736, today's candle traded $1,700 above the line, and a close above $76,750 at 7:00 PM ET tonight would keep the picture intact.Binance
  • Daily RSI(14) rose to 42.7 from 37.9 earlier today — above 40 for the first time in six days; neutral 50 is still far off, but there is no oversold reading, and there never was one.Binance

8 more facts
  • The EMA20 at $79,747 and EMA50 at $80,067 form a resistance band $1,300–1,600 above the price; the Sept 15 'golden cross' is technically still alive, but both lines point down.Binance
  • The 50-week moving average at $75,607 and the short-term holder cost basis at $75,892 (as of Oct 28) held a test for the second time this week: the overnight low of $75,736 landed right between them, and that is where buyers came back.Binance
  • The 100-day moving average at $76,663 was reclaimed on the bounce and became the first support; the 200-day simple moving average at $73,207 is the bears' target 6.7% lower; the 50-day at $81,911 is distant resistance, where the largest calls for Friday sit.Cryptoticker

  • The 30-day DVOL volatility index stood at 38.5 versus 37.7 a week ago; in daily terms that implies a move of about ±2.0%, or ±$1,590 — the full width of the base-case range; overnight into Wednesday DVOL had eased to 37.0 from a Tuesday peak of 40.9, with the election premium priced out.Deribit
  • By CryptoTicker's estimate, one standard deviation to Friday's expiry (45 hours) is 2.65%, or about $2,080: two-thirds of the probability sits in $76,360–80,520, the chance of slipping below the 100-day average by Friday morning is about 19%, and of rising above $82,000 about 5%.Cryptoticker
  • CoinLab fractals: on a two-week window, six similar stretches of history gave a median move of −8.2% over the following two weeks (only two of six up); on a 50-day window the median is +11.8% (four of six up), and on a six-month window +19.4% — the short-term picture is bearish, the medium- and long-term ones are not.CoinLab
  • Polymarket odds for Thursday, Nov 5 put the median price at $78,416 with an interquartile range of $76,969–79,640 and a 49.4% chance that Bitcoin ends above the current price: the prediction market expects the same sideways action as our base case, with the median matching the report price to within $30.Polymarket
