Bitcoin Fear & Greed Index
One-year history
How to read it
The index gauges crypto market sentiment on a 0–100 scale: lower means more panic, higher means more euphoria. Traders often read it contrarian-style — extreme fear has often coincided with local bottoms and extreme greed with overheating before pullbacks. It is not a buy or sell signal: in a long downtrend fear can last for weeks.
alternative.me scale: 0–24 extreme fear, 25–46 fear, 47–54 neutral, 55–75 greed, 76–100 extreme greed.
How it is calculated
The index is published once a day by alternative.me. Per their methodology it combines volatility (25%), market momentum and volume (25%), social media (15%), surveys (15%, currently paused), Bitcoin dominance (10%) and search trends (10%). We pull the value from their open API and refresh this page every 15 minutes.
