Key facts
Flat rate for makers and takers on spot; no derivatives.
About
Bitkub is Thailand's largest crypto exchange, founded in Bangkok in 2018 and licensed by the Thai SEC. It is a simple spot venue trading against the Thai baht with a flat 0.25% fee.
For Thai residents it is a convenient regulated on-ramp; for everyone else it offers little, with no derivatives and baht-only fiat. In 2026 it emerged that Bitkub had hidden a $47 million hack from 2021 for nearly five years, prompting a criminal complaint from the regulator.
Pros
- Thai SEC licence
- Easy on-ramp via Thai banks
Cons
- Concealed $47 million 2021 hack and SEC criminal complaint
- High flat 0.25% fee
- Baht-only fiat
Verification (KYC)
Mandatory verification; foreigners follow a separate KYC flow and must pass a crypto-knowledge quiz on first login.
For users in Russia
No ban found: foreigners can sign up with KYC, but the exchange targets Thailand and fiat is Thai baht via local banks only (no Russia-specific restriction found as of October 2026).
Security
On 10 May 2021 attackers stole 16 assets worth about 1.7 billion baht (around $47 million). Bitkub concealed the incident and refilled reserves with founders' money; in 2026 the Thai SEC filed a criminal complaint against the company and two former executives over misleading disclosures.
