Key facts
Paying fees in BNB cuts spot fees by 25% (to 0.075%) and USDⓈ-M futures fees by 10%; further discounts come with VIP tiers based on 30-day volume and BNB balance.
About
Binance is the world's largest crypto exchange by trading volume, with more than 300 million registered users, roughly 500 spot assets and the deepest order books on major pairs. It covers nearly every product category — spot, futures, options, bots, copy trading and staking.
It suits traders who care most about liquidity, low fees and breadth of tools. Base spot fees are 0.1% (0.075% when paid in BNB), and USDⓈ-M futures cost 0.02% maker / 0.05% taker.
The regulatory record is uneven: Binance pleaded guilty in the US in 2023 and paid $4.3B, and on 1 July 2026 it stopped serving EU residents after failing to obtain a MiCA licence. It formally left Russia in 2023, so it is effectively closed to new Russian users.
Pros
- Highest liquidity and volumes in the market
- Low fees, with a 25% spot discount when paying in BNB
- Very broad product range: futures, options, bots, Earn
- Roughly $1B SAFU fund and monthly proof of reserves
Cons
- Officially left Russia; no RUB P2P
- No service for EU residents since 1 July 2026 (no MiCA licence)
- Mandatory KYC for everyone
- Regulatory baggage, including the 2023 US guilty plea
Verification (KYC)
Identity verification is mandatory for all users; without it you cannot deposit or trade.
For users in Russia
Binance announced its exit from Russia on 27 September 2023, selling the Russian business to CommEX (which shut down in 2024). In September 2024 the exchange told Cointelegraph it still serves a 'limited number' of existing Russian users; new sign-ups from Russian residents are not officially supported. As of 7 October 2026, Binance P2P shows no RUB ads. Russia's law on digital currencies (passed by the State Duma on 21 July 2026, in force from 1 September 2026) requires residents to trade crypto only through intermediaries registered with the Bank of Russia from 1 July 2027; banks are to block payments to unregistered platforms.
Security
In May 2019 attackers stole 7,000 BTC (about $40M) from a hot wallet; the SAFU fund covered the loss in full. In early 2026 the roughly $1B SAFU fund was converted into bitcoin, and Binance publishes monthly Merkle-tree proof of reserves.
