Indodax halts deposits and withdrawals over cyberattack attempts
Indonesia's largest exchange paused rupiah and crypto deposits and withdrawals. It says no unauthorized withdrawals or data leaks were found; no restart date given.

Indonesian exchange Indodax suspended deposits and withdrawals of both rupiah and crypto on Oct. 29, citing a rise in cyberattack attempts. It has not said when operations will resume.
Details
The pause began around 12:24 Jakarta time (1:24 AM ET), according to Crypto Briefing, and is also reported by ForkLog and Coinfomania. CEO William Sutanto described it as a precaution while the exchange checks its infrastructure and adds security measures.
Indodax says client assets are safe and that it found no unauthorized withdrawals or data leaks. Per Crypto Briefing, spot trading is partly available and users can still see balances. No amounts at risk have been disclosed, and the threat itself has not been independently confirmed.
Indodax was hit in September 2024, when attackers drained about $22M from its hot wallets and the exchange went offline.
What this means for the market
For now the halt looks preventive, with no loss acknowledged. Users cannot move funds out until the exchange lifts the pause, and trading is limited. Until Indodax publishes a timeline and the results of its review, the picture is incomplete. See the daily brief for the broader market.
