HTX Agrees to Stop Unlawful UK Crypto Promotions Until 2031

A London court recorded the FCA's settlement with Huobi Global on Oct. 27: HTX will not run unlawful financial promotions in the UK until Oct. 21, 2031.

HTX Agrees to Stop Unlawful UK Crypto Promotions Until 2031

The High Court in London on Oct. 27, 2026 recorded a consent order (a Tomlin order) in the UK Financial Conduct Authority's case against the HTX exchange. Operator Huobi Global S.A. undertook not to communicate financial promotions in the UK that breach section 21 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 until Oct. 21, 2031. There is no order as to costs.

Details

According to the court order, the FCA and Huobi Global signed a confidential settlement agreement on Oct. 16, 2026, and proceedings in claim FS-2025–000015 are stayed except to enforce its terms. The undertaking covers htx.com, its mobile apps and social media: X, Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, TikTok, YouTube, Discord, Medium and LinkedIn.

The FCA sued in February 2026, The Block reported, alleging HTX promoted its services to UK customers without authorisation. Cointelegraph reports that the settlement terms are not public, Huobi Global admitted no liability, and the exchange has already blocked deposits and new sign-ups from UK customers.

What it means for the market

The case shows how the UK regulator enforces its crypto marketing rules, in force since October 2023: an offshore exchange without UK authorisation can be bound by a court-backed undertaking even if it has no physical presence in the country. UK users remain cut off from HTX. The settlement has no direct bearing on global prices.
