Crypto.com to Close Its Hong Kong Consumer App on Feb. 1
Crypto.com will discontinue its Hong Kong consumer app on Feb. 1, 2027, while still pursuing an SFC license for its institutional exchange.

Crypto.com will discontinue its consumer app in Hong Kong on February 1, 2027, the company told Bloomberg on Monday, November 2. A spokesperson cited the need to optimize global operations and put resources into markets with more sustainable long-term opportunities.
Details
According to Bloomberg and Cointelegraph, affected customers have already been notified, and the company will send instructions on closing accounts and withdrawing funds before the February 1 cutoff.
The institutional side stays. Crypto.com continues to pursue a virtual asset trading platform license from Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) through Foris DAX HK Limited, for its Crypto.com Exchange platform. Per Cointelegraph, the application was filed on February 9, 2024, and the entity currently holds "deemed-to-be-licensed" transitional status rather than a full license. Cointelegraph asked Crypto.com for comment and had no reply by publication.
What it means for the market
Hong Kong remains one of Asia's key regulated crypto markets, and a major exchange pulling its retail product shows how long full licensing can take. For users the practical point is simple: withdraw funds before the February deadline. For the broader market picture, see the daily brief; the ecosystem token is on the Cronos page.
