Harmony (ONE) price

Harmony (ONE) is the coin of its own layer 1 blockchain built for decentralized applications. The project bets on sharding: the network is split into parts that process transactions in parallel, so it can handle a larger flow of operations. It is compatible with Ethereum tooling, which makes it easier for developers to port applications. CoinMarketCap lists the coin from June 2019, but that is a listing date and not the network's launch date.

The network runs on Proof of Stake: ONE holders stake coins with validators and earn rewards. The token pays for fees, is used for staking and gives a say in governance. Compared with category neighbors such as Ethereum, Solana or Avalanche, Harmony differs mainly in its emphasis on sharding and not in a separate niche, and competition in this segment is intense.

Supply is not capped. There is no maximum, the model is inflationary, and new coins are issued as staking rewards. Total supply is about 26.3 billion ONE, with about 16.4 billion in circulation. For a holder this means that without staking their share of the network is gradually diluted.

What to watch and risks. In 2022 the Horizon bridge, which connected Harmony to other networks, was hacked, with losses estimated at roughly $100 million. The case illustrates the risk of cross-chain bridges. Keep an eye on developer and user activity, the amount staked and liquidity: the coin sits near the bottom of the top 500, and competition among layer 1 networks is strong.
