Thailand files complaint against Bitget, sets Dec. 5 block
Thailand's SEC accuses Bitget's operator of running an unlicensed exchange for Thai users from 2022 to 2025 and will have access to the platform blocked from Dec. 5.

Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a criminal complaint on Nov. 5 against BG Limited, the operator of crypto exchange Bitget, and said access to the platform for users in the country will be restricted from Dec. 5. The regulator says the exchange served Thai customers without a license.
Details
According to crypto.news, the complaint was submitted to the Economic Crime Suppression Division. Besides BG Limited, it names a local promoter, Kritsana Kritsananuwat, accused of helping market the exchange. The alleged violation falls under Thailand's Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses.
The SEC says that between 2022 and 2025 Bitget handled digital asset transactions, collected fees and served Thai customers. As evidence it cites a Thai-language website, prices shown in baht and promotion on social media. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society was asked to block the website, related domains and the mobile app from Dec. 5 (Cointelegraph, Thai SEC statement).
Investigators will first review the case, and prosecutors will then decide whether to bring charges. Bitcoin.com reports a court process could run through 2026–2027. Crypto.news said Bitget had not responded to a request for comment.
What it means for the market
Thailand has been steadily pressing offshore exchanges that lack a local license: its SEC has previously filed complaints against Binance and OKX, and moved to block Bybit and others. The timing is awkward for Bitget, which announced in October that it would buy licensed Thai exchange GMO-Z.com Cryptonomics, as we reported. That deal still awaits regulatory approval.
Thai users have until Dec. 5 to check their balances on the exchange. This is not investment advice. For the live bitcoin price, see the daily brief.
