Details
Revenue was only $2.7M (advisory fees and a medical device business), so the profit came mainly from revaluing bitcoin; The Block describes the gains as unrealized. Non-GAAP adjusted net income attributable to common stockholders was $494.6M, or $5.46 per diluted share.
On accumulation, Strive reports a BTC Yield of 18.5% for the quarter, 63.2% year to date and 19.3% for October. It acquired 20,373 BTC over nine months. Digital assets on the balance sheet stood at $2.34B on Sept. 30; cash was $285.4M at quarter-end and $490.4M as of Oct. 30. Its position in Strategy's STRC preferred was valued at $50.1M.
On Oct. 20 Strive closed a public offering of 7 million SATS preferred shares for net proceeds of about $609.0M. CEO Matthew Cole attributes the stock's outperformance of bitcoin this year to strong BTC Yield and says the SATS issuance leaves the company better placed. The release adds that Strive is weighing uses of its balance sheet ranging from banking and brokerage to DeFi and tokenization.
What it means for the market
Profits at bitcoin-holding companies track the BTC price at period end rather than operating business: a Q3 price rise produced a paper gain, and a decline would produce a loss. The pace of buying matters more for the market: after the October purchases Strive holds about 43,124 BTC, as covered in our latest purchase note. For the live bitcoin price, see the daily brief.
