Interactive Brokers Launches Ethereum Staking via Zerohash
Interactive Brokers opened ETH staking to eligible Interactive Brokers LLC clients on Oct. 13; rewards accrue in ETH and compound, with Zerohash running it.

US online brokerage Interactive Brokers switched on cryptocurrency staking for clients on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Ethereum is the only asset available at launch, the service is open to "eligible" clients of the US entity Interactive Brokers LLC, and the staking itself runs on infrastructure from Zerohash. The broker announced the rollout in a press release at 8:30 AM ET; The Block and Crypto Briefing carried the details.
Details
Clients submit stake and unstake requests through a Staking Dashboard in the Client Portal and can track pending activity there. Rewards, when earned, are credited as additional staked ETH and keep working while the position stays staked, so they compound. CEO Milan Galik likened the service to the firm's Stock Yield Enhancement Program, which lets clients earn extra income on shares they already own, adding: "We want clients to earn more from the assets they hold." Availability depends on the IBKR affiliate and the client's country of residence, per the release, which did not disclose a reward rate or the broker's fee.
Zerohash handles the mechanics: client stakes are added to its validators. The firm unveiled its Staking-as-a-Service product for brokerages and banks on June 25, 2026, naming Interactive Brokers, Public and BitMart as launch partners. Zerohash's documentation says there is no minimum amount, rewards are paid daily, Solana is slated to follow in Q4 2026, and staking is not yet offered in four US states. Zerohash recommends that platforms keep 25–35% of gross rewards, leaving users 65–75%, but each platform sets its own fee.
The launch extends a year of crypto expansion at Interactive Brokers. The broker began offering bitcoin and ether trading through Paxos in September 2021. In February 2026 it added bitcoin and ether futures with Coinbase Derivatives, and on July 14 it grew its Zerohash token lineup to 20 assets and enabled withdrawals in the USDC, PYUSD and RLUSD stablecoins. Crypto commissions run 0.12% to 0.18% of trade value with a $1.75 minimum per order.
What It Means for the Market
Staking at a mainstream multi-asset broker moves Ethereum validation income from a niche for the technically minded into a standard feature of an investment account, alongside stocks and bonds. For the network, it is a potential pipeline of newly staked ETH through a single large provider, Zerohash, with the same validator-concentration questions usually raised about exchanges. For rival brokers, it sets a bar: no minimum, though the fee is still undisclosed.
The usual caveats apply. Rewards are paid in ETH, so their dollar value moves with the token, the amount depends on network conditions and is not guaranteed, and unstaking goes through Ethereum's exit queue, which takes time.
