Grayscale Opens In-Kind Investing in 10 Crypto ETFs
Grayscale launched in-kind investing: eligible investors can contribute crypto directly for shares of 10 products, including BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and DOGE.

Grayscale on Oct. 21 launched in-kind investing: eligible investors can contribute digital assets directly in exchange for shares of a Grayscale product. The company announced it in an official post on X at about 9:00 AM ET. The service covers 10 products.
Details
The list includes the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust ETF (BTC), Ethereum Staking Mini ETF (ETH), Solana Staking ETF (GSOL), XRP Trust ETF (GXRP), Dogecoin Trust ETF (GDOG), Avalanche Staking ETF (GAVA), Chainlink Trust ETF (GLNK), Hyperliquid Staking ETF (HYPG), Sui Staking ETF (GSUI) and the Zcash ETF (ZCSH).
Grayscale lists the benefits as a lighter self-custody burden, potentially lower execution costs and easier incorporation into conventional portfolio management. According to Crypto Briefing, in practice the mechanism is used by authorized participants, the large trading firms that create and redeem ETF shares. The outlet notes that the SEC allowed in-kind creation and redemption for spot crypto products on July 29, 2025.
What it means for the market
With in-kind, a fund doesn't have to buy or sell the asset on the open market for cash each time shares are created or redeemed. That can cut costs and simplify how market makers work with the funds. It says nothing about demand by itself: it changes how money enters and leaves, not how much. Current flows are on our ETF flows page; BTC's live price is in the daily brief.
