Updated Oct 22, 3:50 AM ET: Oct. 21 figures revised — inflows were $528 million, not $289.8 million; the first data did not include IBIT's inflow.
US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in about $528 million in net inflows on Oct. 21, Cointelegraph reports citing SoSoValue data. It is the third straight inflow day, after $23.2 million on Oct. 20 and $526.6 million on Oct. 19.
Details
According to Farside Investors data cited by Cointelegraph, BlackRock's IBIT led the day with $235 million, followed by Fidelity's FBTC with roughly $213 million. Our first version of this story showed no IBIT inflow: SoSoValue had no value for that fund when we published, so the total was understated at $289.8 million. Among the other funds, the first data showed Grayscale's GBTC at $32.6 million, Bitwise's BITB at $19.2 million, ARK 21Shares' ARKB at $9.8 million, Grayscale's Bitcoin Mini Trust (BTC) at $8.2 million and Franklin's EZBC at $7.3 million. The per-fund table is on CoinLab's ETF flows page.
Across the three sessions from Oct. 19 to Oct. 21, inflows totaled about $1.08 billion. Per Cointelegraph, October's net inflows reached roughly $461 million and the year-to-date figure $1.34 billion. The run followed two weeks of withdrawals: $228 million last week and $681 million the week before.
What this means for the market
Three straight inflow days pushed October's flows back into positive territory after two weeks of outflows. One day says little about the trend, and ETF flows are only one factor among many; they do not predict price. Per Cointelegraph, Bitcoin briefly rose above $84,700 on Oct. 21 (intraday high $84,777).
