Key facts
Base rates per reviews; futures are unavailable in the EU and some countries and since April 2026 run through WhiteBIT Broker, supervised by the National Bank of Georgia.
About
WhiteBIT was founded in Ukraine in 2018 and moved its headquarters to Vilnius after 2022. It is now a European exchange with VASP registrations in more than a dozen countries and, since 2026, MiCA licences in Austria and Croatia.
It offers spot, margin, futures, Earn and bots, with standard 0.1% spot fees. It has been closed to Russian users since 2022, and in 2026 Russia labelled it "undesirable", making use from Russia legally risky.
Pros
- MiCA licences in the EU
- Wide network of VASP registrations
- Clean security record
Cons
- Closed to Russia and labelled undesirable there
- No futures in the EU
- No regular proof of reserves
Verification (KYC)
Verification required for fiat operations and full access.
For users in Russia
Unavailable and risky: WhiteBIT blocked users from Russia and Belarus in 2022, and in January 2026 Russia's Prosecutor General designated the exchange and parent W Group "undesirable organisations", exposing Russian users to criminal liability.
Security
We found no hacks of the exchange itself; in 2024 WhiteBIT said it helped secure more than $150 million in stolen or at-risk funds. We found no regular proof of reserves.
Licenses and registrations
- MiCA licence from the FMA (Austria, June 2026)
- MiCA licence from HANFA (Croatia, April 2026)
- VASP registrations in Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Italy and elsewhere
- National Bank of Georgia derivatives licence (April 2026)
