XRP Ledger Upgrades Oct. 23 With 8 Fixes as Lending Vote Falls Short
fixCleanup3_4_0 activates Oct. 23 with 8 protocol fixes. LendingProtocolV1_1 stalls at ~53% validator support, far below the 80% threshold needed.

The XRP Ledger is set to activate the fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment around 9:34 AM UTC on October 23, 2026 — a bundle of eight protocol bug fixes. The amendment cleared the 80% validator threshold on October 9, starting the mandatory two-week countdown. At the same time, the LendingProtocolV1_1 amendment remains stalled: only about 53% of validators support it, well below the 80% supermajority required for activation.
Details
fixCleanup3_4_0 shipped with the xrpld 3.4.0 release on September 17, 2026. The most notable fixes:
- Permission delegation security: Patches a bug in the
PaymentBurnpermission where tokens could be created instead of destroyed under specific conditions. Developers warned node operators not to grant this permission until the fix goes live on Oct. 23. - AMM token burn bug: Prevents automated market maker transactions from destroying LP tokens without returning the underlying assets to liquidity providers.
- Vault withdrawal calculations: Adjusts how withdrawals from single-asset vaults are computed.
- Five additional fixes covering Permissioned DEX invariants, MPToken authorization, and NFT offer validation.
LendingProtocolV1_1 — which would introduce native liquidity pools and fixed-term loans to XRPL — is stuck at roughly 17–19 out of a needed 28+ validator votes (assuming ~35 active validators). Under XRPL rules, an amendment must hold 80% support for two consecutive weeks before it can activate. No timeline for crossing that threshold has been announced.
What this means for the market
The Oct. 23 upgrade is a maintenance release with no changes to XRP's tokenomics. The security fix in PaymentBurn is operationally relevant for projects already using the PermissionDelegationV1_1 feature (enabled October 8): operators should avoid granting that specific permission until the patch is live. The continued delay on lending means XRPL's native credit market — intended to compete with DeFi lending protocols on Ethereum — has no confirmed activation date, keeping that use case off the chain for now.
