PancakeSwap Votes on 88% LP Fee Share and 69% CAKE Emission Cut
PancakeSwap's "The Flip" vote would lift LP fee share to 88% and cut daily CAKE emissions from 22,500 to 7,000. TVL rose nearly 19% in a week.

PancakeSwap is putting a plan called "The Flip" to a vote: liquidity providers (LPs) on V3 and Infinity pools would receive 88% of swap fees instead of the current 66–68%, and daily CAKE emissions would fall from 22,500 to 7,000, a cut of about 69%. Cointelegraph reports that voting runs from Oct. 21 to Oct. 24.
Details
The team, which posts as The Kitchen, published the plan on the governance forum on Oct. 14, according to Crypto Briefing. The remaining 12% of V3 and Infinity fees would go to the protocol treasury. The Defiant notes that the CAKE burn mechanism on V2 would stay unchanged. The idea is to attract liquidity through real trading volume instead of newly minted tokens. If approved, rollout is expected to begin in November.
Protocol metrics have climbed while the proposal was under discussion. Cointelegraph says PancakeSwap's total value locked (TVL) rose almost 19% in a week, from $2.02 billion on Oct. 14 to $2.4 billion on Oct. 21. V3 pool liquidity more than doubled, from $336 million to $739 million. Over seven days PancakeSwap handled $4.67 billion in trading volume on BNB Chain, or 71% of the network's DEX activity.
What it means for the market
If the plan passes, more trading revenue would shift from the treasury to liquidity providers, and the supply of new CAKE would drop sharply. That would change the token's economics and the competition for liquidity among DEXs on BNB Chain, where total DeFi TVL grew 8.3% over the week to $5.84 billion. The vote's outcome is not yet known, and the effect on the CAKE price cannot be predicted.
