Mesh and Visa Let Users Spend Crypto at 175M Merchants

Payments firm Mesh and Visa announced a partnership that will let users spend crypto and stablecoin balances at more than 175 million Visa merchant locations straight from a wallet, with no separate card. The companies announced it on Oct. 19 at 11:00 AM ET in a press release.

Details

Mesh works behind the scenes: it provisions a Visa credential for the purchase and handles funding and conversion, while the merchant receives an ordinary card payment. No new terminals are needed, so users tap a phone at a contactless reader or check out online as usual. Visa's network spans more than 200 countries.

No launch date has been given. The release says initial availability, supported devices and participating platforms will be announced as rollout details are finalized. Kalshi, Tools for Humanity, Félix Pago, Majority and KAST are named as platforms that already reach users through Mesh. The Block notes Mesh previously powered PayPal's "Pay with Crypto" feature.

Mesh CEO Bam Azizi said: "Crypto never had a spending problem — it has a last-mile problem." Visa said consumers increasingly expect to use their money however and wherever they choose.

What it means for the market

For holders, it is a step toward spending BTC and stablecoins such as USDC without cashing out to fiat first or carrying a separate crypto card. For now this is an announcement, not a launch: the real impact will depend on terms, fees and the list of supported platforms, none of which are in the release.
