Mastercard and BVNK Launch Single Account for Fiat and Stablecoins
Mastercard and BVNK launched Global Money Platform — a single account for fiat and stablecoins, card issuance in 130+ countries and transfers in 200+.

Mastercard and its August acquisition BVNK launched Global Money Platform on October 15, 2026 — a unified multi-currency account that lets businesses hold, convert, and settle both fiat currencies and stablecoins through a single API. The $1.8 billion deal for BVNK closed in August; this is the first major joint product under the combined brand. Launch partners include Nuvei, Marqeta, Ontop, Beem, and Almond FinTech.
Details
The platform supports card issuance in more than 130 countries and transfers through Mastercard Move to over 17 billion endpoints across 200+ countries. Companies can link card programs to any balance — fiat or stablecoin — and route direct payments into recipients' bank accounts without intermediate conversion steps.
Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard's executive vice president for blockchain and digital assets, said "the future of commerce will be built on interoperability of different forms of money" and pointed to forthcoming support for AI agents and tokenized bank deposits. Expansion of Mastercard Move to 40+ currencies is on the roadmap for 2027.
Visa launched a comparable platform for corporate clients in July 2026, making the two card giants direct competitors in stablecoin payments infrastructure.
What it means for the market
Visa and Mastercard together reach tens of billions of cardholders. Both now offering stablecoin infrastructure as a standard business-banking option represents a structural shift — stablecoin settlement is becoming standard payment-network plumbing rather than a niche fintech experiment, bypassing the regulatory hurdles that have slowed direct crypto access through traditional banks.
For crypto markets, the competitive dynamic between the two networks is likely to accelerate real-world stablecoin integration faster than any single regulatory change. For live Bitcoin data, see CoinLab.
