Ethereum Staking Hits Record 43.8M ETH, 35.9% of Supply
Bitwise's Q4 report: 43.8M ETH (35.9% of supply) is staked, a record, with 1.99M ETH of net inflows in the quarter while yield slipped to 2.63%.

The amount of ETH staked has reached an all-time high of 43.8 million ETH, or 35.9% of total supply, according to Bitwise's Q4 2026 Staking Report published on October 20. It is the sixth consecutive quarter of growth.
Details
The Bitwise report shows net inflows into Ethereum staking of 1.99 million ETH over the quarter. Gross staking yield fell to 2.63% from 2.81% in the previous quarter, so more ETH is staked while each token earns less.
Ethereum's validator count dropped from roughly 1.1 million to 881,000. Bitwise attributes this to operator consolidation following the Pectra upgrade, with the total ETH securing the network unchanged.
For comparison, Solana has 69% of its supply staked at a 5.99% yield (down from 6.38%), and NEAR has 46% staked at 4.87%. Solana's validator count fell from 696 to 659. The report does not break down whether the new stake came from institutions, ETFs or retail.
What it means for the market
A growing share of locked ETH means less of the supply is readily available to sell, although unstaking is possible through the exit queue. Falling yield reflects the same rewards being spread across more staked coins. For live prices see the daily brief and the Ethereum page.
