IOST is the native coin of the Internet of Services blockchain, a network built for decentralized applications (DApps) and online services. It targets developers who want fast transactions and low fees, and it has been listed on CoinMarketCap since early 2018.

The network runs on its own consensus mechanism, Proof of Believability (PoB). It picks validators by their reputation on the network as well as by the size of their stake. The IOST coin pays for operations and network resources, is used for staking, and is used to vote for the nodes that confirm blocks. It is also worth checking how many validators the network has and how independent they are, since heavy concentration weakens decentralization.
